Singing

Your voice is a very special instrument that you always have with you. The physical differences in vocal cords between men and women, for example, create a variety of vocal ranges such as soprano, tenor and baritone. Combining lyrics and music, singing is also a powerful way to convey emotions.

Courses

In X's individual singing course your voice and your story always take center stage. Whether you are singing for the first time, already have a lot of experience, or are simply curious about what is possible: you are welcome!

The first lesson is always an introduction: what do you want to get out of these seven weeks? Together with the teacher you will set a realistic personal goal and direction, such as simply becoming more comfortable with your voice or working towards a performance at the Open Mic Nights or Presentation Night. Singing is vulnerable; you have no instrument to hide behind. Our teachers work from the conviction that every voice is unique and deserves a specific approach, with attention to both technique and interpretation.

At X, we have four professional singing teachers. All teachers have extensive experience and can guide you through all basic techniques, styles, and genres. Additionally, each teacher has their own specialty. If you have more experience, or want to work on a specific learning goal, choose a teacher who suits you best. Be sure to read more about the teachers below to choose the best teacher for you!

Jane and Daniela teach only singing. Evi and Marvin teach singing, songwriting, or a combination of the two. You can indicate during the first lesson what you would like to work on.

Not entirely sure yet which direction you want to take? In our Singing Technique Essentials group-course you can get acquainted with various techniques to make singing easier and more fun and meet the different teachers. This way, you can always be sure that you find the right match for your voice and learning style!

In X's songwriting course your story is always the central focus.

The first lesson is always an introduction: what do you want to get out of these seven weeks? Together with the teacher, you determine the direction and focus. In the songwriting course you work on all elements of the craft - from lyrics and melody to structure and arrangement - at your level, in your genre/style. Because Evi and Marvin are also producers, they can guide you all the way from an initial idea to a fully developed song. After seven weeks, you will have a better grip on your writing process and a better sense of what you want to create.

In this course, depending on your personal goals and ambitions, you will learn everything about combining lyrics, chords, and melodies to create a song. Discover tools such as chord progressions, song structures, and rhyme schemes to tell your story better.

During this course, the teacher can also help you combine songwriting and performance, for example, singing and playing at the same time.

Please note: In the webshop, you register for a time slot with the combined name “Singing / Songwriting”. You can tell your teacher in the first lesson what you want to focus on. This can be songwriting only, singing only, or a combination of the two.
